Keeping kids safe tops web worries

Two-thirds of parents were very concerned about their children seeing pornography on the internet but only a quarter had done something about it, a new survey has found.
Protecting their children from online strangers and inappropriate content was the number one concern of parents, beating concerns over viruses, spam, privacy and online transaction security.
Website ninemsn conducted the survey of 362 Australian parents earlier this month to find out what parents wanted in internet services.
The survey found that 59 per cent were concerned about child safety and exposure to porn, while 14 per cent were worried about viruses and 8.5 per cent about credit card security.
But 76 per cent of those worried about their children accessing inappropriate content online said pornography was their biggest concern.
More than half said they were worried about violent and gory images. Friendship sites worried 38 per cent of concerned parents while 30 per cent said chat rooms were a big concern.
